Job Title:                              Pro-active Sales Executive – Conference & Events

Reporting To:                     Kent Event Centre Team Leader

Basis:                                    Full time/flexible over 5 days (to be discussed at interview)

Working Hours:                37.5 hours per week, evening and weekend working will be required.

Location:                             Kent Showground/Remote working/Field based

The Kent Event Centre is a premier events venue situated in the heart of Kent, renowned for hosting a diverse range of conferences, exhibitions, and special events. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional experiences and creating memorable moments for our clients and attendees.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Proactive Sales Executive to join our team, specialising in conferences and events. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and manage the very first Kent Event Centre Business Conference and Exhibition while also driving future growth through establishing valuable contacts and maximizing event potential. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of industry trends, with the ability to manage workload with competing priorities. You will have impressive interpersonal skills to deal with challenging situations and relationships with clients, as well as a strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative and solve problems independently. You will have excellent negotiation skills and a passion for high-quality work and attention to detail.

Principle Accountabilities:

Sales and Business Development:

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the conference and events sector, focusing on both short-term and long-term revenue growth.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with potential clients, understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions to meet their objectives.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling sales collateral and promotional materials to effectively showcase the value proposition of the Kent Event Centre.
  • Utilise CRM systems and sales tools to track leads, manage pipeline, and forecast sales projections accurately.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the overall event experience for clients and attendees, offering innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Kent Event Centre, representing the organisation at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to increase visibility and generate leads.
  • Assist in establishing valuable contacts and collaborate with the sponsorship coordinator to identify and pursue new sponsorship opportunities.
  • KPI’s will include a monthly new business target, prospecting calls, face to face meetings/venue show rounds and networking for new direct business and agency opportunities
  • The position will be working closely with the Kent Event Centre Team Leader and the events team in the office.

Heading Up the first Kent Event Centre Business Conference and Exhibition:

  • Take ownership of all aspects of planning, organising, and executing the first-ever Kent Event Centre Business Conference and Exhibition.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure the success of the event, including setting goals, budgeting, marketing, and logistics.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution and exceptional attendee experiences.
  • Evaluate the success of the event through post-event analysis and feedback, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes for future events.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Event Centre Team Leader or General Manager from time to time.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A full valid UK driving licence is essential for this position.
  • Be keen to travel to clients and networking events.
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, and event management, preferably within the conference and events industry.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic mindset with a keen eye for identifying opportunities and driving revenue growth.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
