Our Story
The Kent Event Centre opened at the Kent Showground, Detling in 1991 and has grown ever since with the development of new modern purpose-built event spaces.
All the profits from the Kent Event Centre go to the registered charity; Kent County Agricultural Society. Formed in 1923 the Kent County Agricultural Society aims are to improve and promote agriculture, forestry, horticulture, allied industries, rural crafts and the breeding of livestock, across Kent.
In addition to making several awards each year, the society is best-known for organising the annual Kent County Show but also the Heritage Transport Show and Living Land, a free one-day event aimed at educating young children in the areas of farming, agriculture, countryside and healthy eating.
Being part of a charity, the Kent Event Centre understands the importance of giving back that’s why we offer discounts and support to other charities, associations and agricultural businesses.
Location
Our unique selling point is our size and location, between two major motorways and within 50 minutes by car or train from London. We have an excess of 200 acres of outdoor space and a private woodland at Organiser’s disposal. We also offer onsite parking for up to 30,000 cars.
The Kent Event Centre is ideally located between the M20 Junction 7, and M2 Junction 5, motorways in the heart of Kent. The County Town of Maidstone is 5 minutes away and is serviced by 3 railway stations. Easily accessible and central to the county, the Kent Event Centre is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the North Downs.

Our flexible venue offers all the facilities needed for a professional catering team! Some of our larger event spaces benefit from an easily accessible, fully equipped service kitchen. Meanwhile, our meeting rooms each boast a dedicated refreshment area. If you don’t yet have a caterer in mind for your event, we work with recommended caterers who can provide a wide range of flexible menus for large or small numbers, whether you’re looking for formal dining, buffets or bowl food.
Whether you are planning a public event, conference or wedding, we know that having the correct Audio Visual equipment on hand is a vital component in your event plan. Our dedicated AV Technician can offer support with microphones, overhead projectors and even live-streaming equipment!
The flexibility of our range of meeting rooms and spaces offers the opportunity for event organisers to provide wellness spaces for event attendees. Whether you want to add a Quite Zone, breakout space or Pastoral Care Room, our meeting rooms are ideally situated close to our larger event spaces to cater for your needs.
Our outdoor space is also at your disposal for your delegates or visitors! Why not make use of our picnic area for an outdoor lunch break or include a woodland walk or team activity to break up a conference day?
